Civil servants across Africa are set to convene in June in Rwanda’s capital city of Kigali for a major Africa Union (AU) public service event, the Rwandan ministry of public service and labor said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Rwanda will host the 6th edition of the Africa Public Service Day (APSD) from June 21 to 23.
The Pan African Conference of Ministers in 2001 declared June 23 as Africa Public Service Day.
The APSD meeting in Kigali will be held under the theme “Entrenching a citizen-centered service delivery culture: Partnering with the youth for Africa’s transformation.”
The celebrations will be marked by be two major events running concurrently that is the symposium and exhibition. It will also be marked by awarding the best innovation exhibitors in citizen-centered service delivery, youth empowerment and ICT, accountability and transparency.
During the forum, participants will discuss partnering with the youth to build a responsive and sustainable public service, nurturing a culture of professionalism and ethical values in Africa’s Public Service, promoting self-reliance and empowerment of African youth for socio-economic development and leveraging ICT skills for quality service delivery.
