Dr Michael Kpessa Whyte, former Executive Director, National Service Scheme, has presented educational items to candidates of this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Shai-Osudoku District.
The items which were presented to the Shai-Osudoku District Education Directorate to be distributed to beneficiary schools, included compiled booklets of past BECE questions, reading materials for lower primary, science and mathematics teaching materials for Junior High Schools.
Presenting the items on behalf of Dr Whyte, his special aid, Mr Jones Ayertey Nuetey, said the learning materials would help to improve education in the District as well as help the candidates to practice with the past questions before the commencement of the examinations on June 05, 2017.
He added that the books were also to stock the libraries of deprived schools in the District and to encourage the pupils to cultivate the habit to read.
He called on stakeholders to augment the efforts of the Ghana Education Service (GES) by supporting education in the District by improving the teaching and learning.
According to Mr Nuertey, Dr Whyte wished the candidates well in the upcoming exams and urged them to study hard and desist from engaging in any exams malpractices.
Madam Irene Tornyeli, official of the Ghana Education Service, received the items on behalf of the beneficiaries and promised to use it for their intended purpose.
