Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique, Minister of Inner City and Zongo Development has called on Muslims to desist from all forms of negative tendencies which may tarnish the image of Islam.
He said Ramadan was a period of great sacrifice, patience, endurance and gratitude and that resorting to alcohol, casting of insinuations and other forms of negative practices would ruin what Islam stood for.
Alhaji Saddique who made the call in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Accra on Monday said Ramadan inspired in us the common values and experience we share as human beings.
Alhaji Saddique said: ‘As we enter the auspicious month, may both Christians and Muslims re-dedicate themselves to the universal human values of love, humility, empathy for others and thankfulness for the blessings of God and pray for Ghana, our dear nation.”
He urged pupils taking the Basic Education Certificate Examination on June 5, to desist from examination malpractices since they would not be spared when caught.
Alhaji Saddique who is also the Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency said he would liaise with the Municipal Education Directorate to institute ‘Best Zongo Teacher’ and ‘Best Zongo Student’ awards in the Municipality as a way of promoting the standard of education in the Constituency.
