THE Rigworld International Services Limited, a Ghanaian Oil and Gas drilling company, would by August, this year, begin the operation of Rigworld Training Centre (RTC) at Kejeberi in the Mpohor District.
The centre would focus on client safety training services and products for offshore oil and gas, maritime, underwater, construction and general hazardous industries.
Mr Carlos Akyeampong, General Manager of the Rigworld Training Centre, said this during a media briefing on the activities being undertaken by Rigworld International Services Limited.
The General Manager said the centre would offer more than 63 safety and survival courses, including Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET), Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET), Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) and Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System ( CA- EBS).
He said the centre would be fully equipped with advanced simulators to provide delegates with realistic training experience in safety and controlled systems.
Mr Akyeampong said the mission of the centre is to provide the oil and gas industry with the most effective and realistic facility available so as to enhance safety awareness in the workplace.
Naa Syntyche Torgbor, General Manager of Rigworld International Services Limited, said the company, which was established in 2011, is a 100 per cent wholly-owned Ghanaian upstream oil and gas services company.
She said other subsidiaries companies of Rigworld include TransAtlantic catering services, which provides onshore and offshore catering services, Master Alarms, Rigworld Security Services (RSS), Buj Homes as well as Pressure Tech Engineering.
Naa Torgbor said Rigworld is also into partnership with international companies such as Maersk Drilling, Damco, Petro, Odell well Services and Ropetech more so the company was currently registered in Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Equatorial Guinea and Singapore.
She said the company has also received both local and international honours, including the best HSE Company of the year, Best Joint Venture Company of the year, European quality award, Best Oil and Gas Company of the year.
Naa Torgbor said the company has championed a number of social responsibility initiatives, including helping communities in the Shama District of the Western Region to access safe and potable water and supported various orphanages.
She cited the lack of technical personnel, such as drillers, crane operators, as well as the requisite equipment and tools in the oil and gas industry as some of the challenges facing the industry.
