Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), has launched a five-year national strategic plan to strengthen its contribution to the nation’s development.
This comes amid the celebration of its 170 years anniversary.
The Right Reverend Dr. Seth Senyo Agidi, the Moderator, said under the plan, it was going to build more health facilities and vocational schools across the country to train and equip the youth with employable skills.
The infrastructure at the EP Church’s University College in Ho, he said, would be expanded.
There would also be an intensification of the church’s evangelism – the spread of the gospel and planting of more branches.
The Rt. Rev Dr. Agidi was addressing the eighth synod of the Ashanti Presbytery of the Church at Amakon, Kumasi.
The three-day conference was held under the theme “Breaking new grounds revisited – now is our turn”.
It provided the platform to assess its performance over the past year and discussed the way forward.
The Rt. Rev Dr. Agidi said the church was eager not only to see to the spiritual growth of the congregation but the physical needs of the society.
In line with this, the various branches had been directed to find innovative ways to generate funds to support projects that would help to transform the lives of the people.
The Moderator expressed strong backing of the church in the fight against illegal small-scale mining, which had been wreaking havoc on the environment.
He rallied Ghanaians to show patriotism and accept to work hard in their various fields of endeavor to boost productivity in all sectors of the economy.
Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah, the Regional Minister, in a speech delivered on his behalf, reminded everybody to contribute to the socio-economic development of the nation.
He urged stronger partnership between the church and the state to make things better.
