Over 3,000 people are expected on Thursday at the International Energy, Mining and Quarries Week (SEMICA) in the Burkina Faso capital Ouagadougou, organizers on Tuesday said.
The “public-private partnership” themed event will be held from May 25 to 27.
In 2016, Burkina Faso’s mining related revenues reached 189,9 billion CFA Francs (329.68 million U.S. dollars), an increase of 12.8 percent compared to the previous year.
The West African country anticipates a total production of 45 tonnes of gold in 2017, from 10 industrial gold mines.
Meanwhile, zinc production will remain around the current level of 130,000 tonnes per year, according to statistics from the trade ministry. Enditem
