FanMilk Ghana on Monday, launched FanMaxx, which is a new pasteurized skimmed creamy drinkable yoghurt.
The product, which is the first of its kind to be produced in West Africa, would be available in 330 millilitre bottles to be sold for four Ghana Cedis, and could be consumed as a light meal replacer.
Mr Stephane Couste, the Managing Director, FanMilk Ghana Limited, said the new product was very unique in the sense that it could be consumed chilled or at room temperature, and had a shelf life of four months.
He said the new product, which comes in strawberry and vanilla flavours, was particularly suited to the African market where the cold chain was not always reliable, and were currently available in the big supermarkets, Mini Marts of fuel stations as well as retail shops in Accra, Tema and Kasoa, but supplies would be extended within the week to other parts of the country.
Mr Alan Kyerematen, the Minister of Trade and Industry, who launched the product, congratulated FanMilk Ghana for the efforts and its numerous achievements of excellence in manufacturing and food production over the past decade, which had resulted in the company’s products becoming a household name both in Ghana and elsewhere.
He acknowledged the tremendous contribution of the company to the Ghanaian economy through job creation, the growth of the manufacturing sector and the provision of nutritious foods to Ghanaians.
The Trade Minister also commended FanMilk Ghana for maintaining affordable prices and using more local ingredients for its products, thereby creating market opportunities for the native agricultural sector.
He further applauded the company’s outstanding performance on and for being one of the first to be listed on the Ghanaian Stock Exchange, and doing extremely well in the face of the numerous economic challenges.
Mr Kyerematen said “Government is committed to implementing policies that will create the needed business-friendly environment for companies such as FanMilk Limited to continue to contribute to job creation and livelihood enhancement for Ghanaians”.
Mr Edouard Spicher, the Chief Executive Officer of FanMilk West Africa, said the company currently operated in six African countries and provided jobs for about 25,000 people.
In Ghana alone, FanMilk provided about 15,000 direct and indirect jobs for different categories of people.
He said the current add-on to the wide range of FanMilk products, would create additional employment opportunities, enhance the company’s portfolio as well as its international exposure to other markets.
Ms Tove Degnbol, the Danish Ambassador to Ghana, said FanMilk Ghana had strived over the years to win the hearts of a range of clientele, and wished them well in their future endeavours.
