A farmer who defrauded the District Manager of Olam Cocoa buying company of 12,825.00 Ghana cedis has been fined 480.00 Ghana cedis by a Tarkwa circuit court.
The convict, Kwadwo Dwamena who pleaded guilty would in default of the fine serve six months imprisonment.
The court also ordered Dwamena to refund the complainants money within three months.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman, told the court presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew, that in December 2016, the complainant, Samuel Sani gave an amount of 12,825.00 Ghana cedis to the convict to purchase 27 bags of dried cocoa beans for the company.
According to the Prosecutor, after the said amount had been given to Dwamena, he did not abide by the directive, and rather invested the money into small scale mining and went into hiding.
Chief Inspector Anaman said the convict was eventually arrested and handed over to the police on April 21, this year.
