
They are also threatening to vote against all NPP members of parliament in the various mining areas as well.
They expressed that, president Nana Addo promised to create more job opportunities during the 2016 electioneering campaign, but to their surprise, the party was given an overwhelming win and afterwards, has decided to create unemployment instead.
They recalled, the NPP promised to revamp Small Scale Mining activities in the country, and that is what moved them to give the party that overwhelming win. We never knew they were rather coming to ban it.
This, gave rise for the Ashanti regional chapter of the Small Scale Miners Association to meet and have an extensive delebrations to decide the way forward toward the government’s decision to stop their activities.
In News Ghana’s interactions with some of the aggrieved miners, they threatened to repeat what the transport unions in the country did to the party in the year 2008 elections, which showed NPP the exit and paved way for the NDC, into government.
The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer for the Association, Mr. Frank Osei appealed to the president of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufu Addo, to call the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources to order on the steps he has taken to ban Small Scale Mining activities in the country.
According to him, the step taken by the Minister has negatively affected them. And thus, appealed to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to intervene on their behalf on the initiative of the NPP government to ban Small Scale Mining activities in the country.
“Although, there have been some bad nuts amongst us, but we have promised to partner with the government to flush them out these bad nuts, whose bad activities are affecting the country.” He noted.
