Namibia’s Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration Pendukeni Ivula-ithana said that the new e-birth notification system will be launched by early May, in a bid to address the high prevalence of late birth registrations in the country.
The Minister said this on Tuesday during a press event on the Government Forum on Electronic Identity in Africa conference which Namibia and ID4Africa will jointly co-host from April 26 to 28 in Windhoek.
Ivula-ithana said that the ID track and trace will be showcased at the conference, as the first in Africa.
“ID4Africa will also launch a full day symposium that runs in parallel to its main session. The so called DocSec Symposium is focused on identity document security. It provides attendees with hands-on knowledge on how to produce fraud resistant credentials and how to detect and combat fraud across all sectors,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Minister said the conference will be attended by one of the largest identity and biometrics expositions in the world where close to 100 international companies will exhibit and demonstrate their latest innovations in identity technologies and solutions.
Over 900 delegates representing 43 African nations, 20 international development agencies and over a 100 international technology and solution providers will also be present at the conference. Enditem
