Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne, daughter of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as part of her 2-day visit in Ghana aimed at celebrating the unique friendship between the UK and Ghana as it marks its 60th Anniversary, has met with two volunteers from VSO International supporting T-TEL to improve professional development of tutors in Ghana’s Colleges of Education.
The Princess Royal was received at the College by T-TEL’s National Programme Manager Akwasi Addae-Boahene, Principal of Wesley College Mrs Charlotte Rockson, Sanjay Awasthi, VSO Ghana Country Director and Nicky Williams, VSO volunteer for T-TEL’s Ashanti and Brong Ahafo zone.
The Princess Royal witnessed a Tutor Professional Development (TPD) session that was being facilitated by Judith Buckley (a VSO volunteer) at the Wesley College of Education in Kumasi. The weekly TPD sessions, an innovation by T-TEL is providing professional development to over 1500 tutors in 40 colleges of Education across Ghana, to help them train student teachers who can meet the varied learning needs of children.
The Princess Royal interacted with tutors and observed some activities at the TPD session. Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne is the patron of VSO international, a UK charity that fights poverty through volunteers.
