A security expert has lauded the Commission set up to investigate the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence after its day one sitting.
Kwesi Aning believes the work of the Emile Short Commission on Thursday has earned the trust of Ghanaians interested in the proceedings.
Speaking on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM Friday, Dr. Aning said: “their performance yesterday has really given people a lot of hope.”

The Director of the Faculty of Academic Affairs and Research at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) added that the credibility of the Commission is because of the people on it.
He added that from what he has heard, the questions the Commission posed to those who appeared before it on Thursday were “tough and uncomfortable and they made people quite uncomfortable.”

He however, reiterated earlier concerns he raised on Newsfile on Saturday that the problem lies with the will of politicians to implement the recommendations of the committee.
“The question is whether when they come with the recommendation, there will be the will to bring out a decent white paper and to implement them,” he said.
Vice President set up the Committee last week with the blessing of President Nana Akufo-Addo who was out of the jurisdiction.
Former CHRAJ boss and High Court judge, Emile Short chairs the Commission which is comprised of law lecturer, Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu and former Inspector-General of Police, Patrick Kwarteng Acheampong.
Private legal practitioner and former Dean of the GIMPA Law School, Dr. Ernest Kofi Abotsi is the secretary to the Commission.
What have witnesses said before the Commission?
Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery told the committee that the La Bawaleshie incident on the day of the by-elections had nothing to do with the elections.
He said by his briefing, the armed men who stormed the home of Delali Kwesi Brempong were there for a different business.
He also said the vehicle tagged Police SWAT does not belong to the police.
Minister of State at the Ministry of National Security who also appeared before the committee admitted that the security operatives were deployed by the National Security on intelligence that arms were being stockpiled at a residence in the community.
