It was all fun at the St Anthony Anglican Church, as the maiden edition of the Joy FM kids Olympics kick started on Saturday, February 9 with some amazing displays of sporting talent by children.
The event, for young ones between the ages of 5 and 12, was held at the venue, adjacent Lincoln Community School in Abelemkpe.
"This is the first time I have taken part in anything like this. I always see things like this on TV so I'm happy to be here," said Benedict Tetteh of the Happy Days Academy in Otublohum.
The event - which will run for the next two Saturdays at different venues - had hundreds of children in attendance. Athletics was the focus for this weekend.
With parents and siblings cheering on, the children competed fiercely in 80 metre hurdles, hula hooping, and whiffle paddle relays.
Medals and other prizes were handed out to winners as well as the first and second runners up in all the events. Participants also received certificates of participation
The children also had a swell time interacting with the many Joy FM personalities who were there.
Parents were not left out as they competed in the hula hoop challenge.
The second leg of the Joy FM Kids Olympics comes off next week Saturday, 16th February at the Lincoln Community School gymnasium with medals in table tennis and taekwondo up for grabs.
The Joy Kids Olympics is sponsored by Blue Band, Hollard Life, Call Angels, Medicas Hospital, and Alpha Cuisine.
