The saying is true that a picture is worth a thousand words. It is refreshing that Dagbon kingdom is in the news for all the right reasons after its 17 years waiting for an overlord.
On Friday, Tamale was the focal point of not only Ghana but the world’s attention was on the rich culture on display.
It was not just the enskinment of the new Ya Na Abubakari Mahama II, but it was also an opportunity to make louder statements of peace with cloths of northern origin than words did previously.
Yes! And the clothes did so eloquently and traditionally by working magic on Friday as the 17-year conflict between the Abudus and Andanis ended with each side wearing their best to celebrate the day.
President Akufo-Addo’s cloth spoke better peace than famous “I am an Abudani” words, no wonder it went viral on social media.
And oh, there was a statement by General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). He did not utter a word but Asiedu Nketia always has a way of owning the moment with his wear at such events.
The new Ya Na, spoke a few words too but his clothes gave words of overwhelming beauty, resolute power and the courage of a leader determined to succeed.
As for the security services, they never say much in word but their dressing in Dagbon simply said, “don’t dare."
