Thirty-two students have successfully passed out from High Speed Media Institute after undergoing a six months intensive training in different media and communications subjects.
The colourful graduation ceremony was held at the campus of the Institute at Spintex in Accra over the weekend.
The students pursued courses in News Reporting, Citizen Journalism, Photojournalism, News Presentation and Production and Deejaying.
High Speed Media Institute an informal media training institution founded by Adom FM’s Afia Pokua.
It has polished the talents of an uncountable number of people, and for seven years has trained students in a myriad of media specialisations.
Addressing the gradaunds, a lecturer at the institute, Mr Ekow Arkoh, charged them to go out to demonstrate the skills they have acquired from the training.
He said media owners and editors these days prefer employing multi-skilled journalists who can do many things at the same time in a bid to save production cost.
Mr Arkoh urged the graduates against corruption inducements of all forms from influencers. He said these can interfere with the objectivity they need to do their jobs professionally.
He also urged them to uphold the highest ethical standards in their work.
Founder and Director of High Speed Media Institute, Afia Pokua, said her institute prepares students to deeply understand the dynamics of the media to enable them chose which direction to go after their training.
Afia Pokua said success of every journalist depends on passion and good attitude, urging the graduates to be hardworking, innovative and creative.
Afia Pokua is one of the successful and influential female journalists in the country.
She says her passion of helping to build a strong career for the youth remains unwavering.
