Veteran Highlife musician Rex Omar says he has withdrawn all charges against Zylofon signee Obibini for sampling his song without permission.
Recently on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, Rex Omar hinted a looming legal battle with the rapper, Obinini and his record label, Zylofon Media.
The 'Abiba' hitmaker, accused the rapper of using the hook of his song ‘Dea ne me’ in his song ‘Gogo woho’ track.
The GHAMRO Chairman stated that he would sue the record label for not less than a million dollars as that is the value he places on any of his songs.
However, Obibini in a recent video asked to be pardoned as his only motive for using the song was to honour the veteran.
He added "with no disrespect to you. I love you and I cherish you, just let it be".
Reacting to these pleas, the Rex Omar told Daniella Adu Asare on Hitz News@1 that his intention was purely correctional and not malicious.
"I was moved because my move was not to kill his career but to educate the up and coming musicians that there are rules to this game", he clarified.
Rex Omar added that he was moved by the young rapper’s motives for using his song.
He added "if a young artist chose to pick something from my song, and if his intention was to honour me, then I think the best thing I can do is to forgive him and advise him not to go to that extent again.”
Rex Omar also reveals that some revered persons had also negotiated on Obibini’s behalf prior to his pleas, thus his decision.
