Highlife group Wutah is unhappy their hit song, ‘Bronya’ did not make the highlife categories it was nominated in.
Wutah, who picked the ‘Group of the Year’ award, say they expected more accolades.
“We feel good though we expected more but ye be fa no sa (we will do with that),” Kobby, a member of the group, said.
Afriyie, on the other hand, told JoyNews’ MzGee that he believes highlife should be redefined.
“Bronya, talk of authentic highlife element. In fact, we need to redefine highlife anyway. What I am saying is to the young folks who won those highlife categories, highlife isn’t a cheap genre,” he said.
“Once you’re crowned Highlife Artiste of the Year, you have a big task ahead. We held the fort when it was being marginalised, when it was sidelined, when everybody diverted to dancehall, hiphop. When our nominations at the Grammy’s were reggae songs we held the fort,” Afriyie said.
