Video: Young Ghanaian 'lesbian' couple trends on social media

A video of a gay Ghanaian couple has taken social media by storm and revived the debate over homosexuality in the country.

In the video, the young couple – known only as Ella and Sikel – who appear to be in their early twenties are seen enjoying each other’s company.

Following President Nana Akufo Addo’s now landmark interview with Al-Jazeera where he touched on the issue of gay rights in Ghana, the issue has repeatedly come up in the news.

Many people condemned the President’s comments, where he said a strong civil society action for the decriminalisation of homosexuality is bound to happen. He, however, maintained that it was not on government's agenda now.
