Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin-Central, Kennedy Agyapong has denied promising to pay five renowned Ghanaian highlife musicians ¢5,000 each every month.
It was reported that veteran hiplife musicians, AB Crentsil, Nana Kwame Ampadu, Jewel Ackah, Obuoba J. A. Adofo and C. K. Mann, were promised an amount of ¢5,000 each as monthly salaries from the benevolent legislator.
The reports said Mr. Agyapong said the action was part of his package to the development of music in Ghana.
But speaking on Adom TV’s Morning Show “Badwam” programme, the politician said there was a miscommunication between him and Bice Osei Kuffour (Obour), MUSIGA President.
According to him, he promised to pay ¢1,000 each to the renowned musicians, an amount which will total ¢5,000 for the five musicians.
“I think there was a miscommunication somewhere. I met Obour at Flagstaff House last night and told him my ¢5,000 is ready but the issue is that I never promised to give each of them ¢5,000," he said.
