Angela Coleman was born male, but her female characteristics seemed more dominant, meaning she behaved more like a woman than the man she was naturally born to be.
But the society will have none of that. People in the neighbourhood she lived in while growing up, she said, made life unbearable for her.
The trolling and name-calling, she recounted in the video below to Joy News’ Maxwell Agbagba, forced her to seek a transformation, one in this part of the continent that is unusual.
Her transformation was supported by her grandmother whom she lived with at the time, as well as her entire family.
She has for the past three years, been living as a woman.
She said she feels more comfortable in her new body, and the harassment she used to experience prior to her transformation is almost non-existent now.
She called on the government to legalise the rights of gay, lesbian and transgender in Ghana, because whatever a person decides to do with their body is their choice and they should not be hindered.
