Ghana Reinsurance Company Limited has presented GH?250,000 to ten health and educational institutions as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The gesture was in line with Ghana Reinsurance’s desire to help improve on the capacities of some essential services in the country so as to enable them deliver on their mandate.
The institutions which benefited from the support were selected randomly by the insurance company due to their peculiar contributions to the development of the economy over the past years.
The College of Health Sciences, Ghana Heart Foundation, Urology Department and Department of Child Health, Accident Centre all of Korle Bu, School of Medical Sciences, KNUST, Kumasi, Students Financial Aid Office, University of Ghana, the National Trust Fund, Osu Children’s Home, Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) all received GH?25,000 each.
Presenting the cheques to representatives of the beneficiary institutions, the Managing Director of Ghana Re, George Mensah said the donation as part of the company’s policy to meet societal needs.
“Ghana Re sets aside a percentage of its budgeted pre-tax profits every year to b used as gifts and donations to deserving institutions to assist government provide the necessary foundation for skilled human resource for the future” he stated.
He explained that, their decision to support the AMA to educate the public especially living in flood prone areas on flood prevention to avert any pandemonium.
Mr. George Mensah said the company has for the past years put smiles on the faces of the less privileged and hope to continue to contribute their quota to nation building.
The beneficiaries thanked the company for the support for the past years promised that the cash will be put to good use.
They also urged other corporate bodies in the country to emulate the Ghana Re example to help save lives.
