Hiplife ‘Grandpapa’, Reggie Rockstone has added his voice to the numerous calls for the legalization of marijuana stating that it is not different from alcohol.
He noted that, there are economic and medical benefits Ghana can derive from the herb if its use is legalized.
For some time now, some entertainment personalities, including rapper Kwaw Kwese, musicians Blakk Rasta and Ekow Micah, have called for the legalization of marijuana in Ghana.
Speaking in an interview on Peace FM, Reggie Rockstone said he fully supports calls for the legalization of ‘weed’ in Ghana.
According to him, Ghana simply does not know the economic value of marijuana quizzing that, “Do you know how much revenue Amsterdam gets from weed?”
He described as sheer hypocrisy, the current stance by the government not to make use of the herb legal.
Reggie, who is a member of VVIP, justified his call noting for example, how people are making money from the sale and advertisement of alcoholic beverage after its consumption was decriminalised.
For someone who owns a club where alcohol is sold, the rapper said in all his life, he has not seen anyone smoke marijuana and misbehaved but he has seen a lot of people drink alcohol and behave badly.
“They can make a lot money,” he stressed and added that people are already smoking marijuana.
Apart from the economic benefits, Reggie Rockstone preached that, ‘weed’ is “also organic” with countless medical benefits.
He buttressed his stance further by saying, “It is no different from alcohol” because alcohol is causing a lot of havoc in the world today.
