Kaakyire Kwame Fosu known in showbiz circles as KK Fosu claims highlife musician Bisa Kdei would be irrelevant if he (Fosu) promoted his songs.
K.K Fosu made this revelation to Joynews’ MzGee who inquired why we have not heard another hit song from his camp after he produced successful tracks likes of Suudwe, Anadwo yede, Oga.
He cites his inability to promote his work as a factor that accounts for the perceived tardiness of his music career.
“I am not pushing, K.K should push harder. K.K will do a song and maybe throw it to one or two D.J’s but certain artistes will go and be hungrily promoting, trying to be there, trying to be famous, trying to let people know them.
"But K.K Fosu I don’t push my music. K.K don’t go to interviews, they beg before I go and I think that is the reason,” he said.
K.K Fosu stressed that music is his talent and not his source of livelihood as he earns a living through football management.
“I work so hard on football management than music because music is my talent and I flow, I have a studio in my house but music is my hobby, it’s not my work.
According to him, in the days he started doing music it was not generating rewards as it does now adding, "music will give you the way but you need to be smart and pave your way and grab what you want to grab."
"I am a star so I take $20,000 to America and spend it or shoot one or two music videos which will cost another $20,000 or $30,000 so you should know I am ok,” he said.
The crooner said he is grateful to all Ghanaians for believing in his talent stating that he had to slow down on his tunes to pave way for the likes of Bisa Kdei who many highlife musicians extol for keeping the genre competitive.
“Imagine if K.K Fosu is still trending, how can Bisa K’dei be on top like that because they were struggling to coming up when we were on top,” he said.
"Lumba is not kicking like then, Kojo Antwi is not kicking like then, we have so many ‘hiplifers’ who have fallen and gone out of the system but I know that Ghanaians have trust in K.K Fosu," he added.
