Mubarak Wakaso says he is seeking a contract termination with Greek giants Panathinaikos. The midfielder only joined the side in summer during 2016 from Russia’s Rubin Kazan for three years.
He claims the club neglected their contractual obligations a few months after he signed for them.
“Before I joined them [Panathinaikos], I spoke to Mike [Michael Essien] who told me the club was having some financial problems,” Wakaso is quoted by FMG.
“But the club officials assured me I will have all what is due me paid and that is why I signed for them.
“Initially things were okay until they started skipping payment of my salary and then I had to start paying my own rent when it was the club that was supposed to pay.
According to the 26-year-old, the unbearable situation made him push for a loan move which saw him return to Spain with Granada in La Liga during the January transfer window.
“It was becoming too much and that is why I had to leave on loan and I don’t think I will go back.
“The contract will be terminated and I will be joining a new club soon,” Wakaso mentioned.
