The Accra City doubles men and women tennis championship ended over the weekend with interesting results recorded across various age categories.
In the 40-49 years men’s category, George Hackson and Nana K. Sam Awortwi showed the prowess on the court as they defeated Bernard Nii Bortey and Richard Odum Mensah 6-1 6-1.
Also, in another thrilling final, David Carreras and Frederic Van DeVyver defeated Robert Williams and Air Co Nana Asante 6-4 6-4 to emerge winners of the50-59 years category.
Moreover, a result of 6-3 6-0 was recorded over two sets as Prince Ablorh and Mustapher Owusu Ansah defeated Andrews
Adu-Appiah for the title in the Semi Pro category of 40 years and above.
Richmond Kotey and Frank Quartey-Simpson on the other hand, displayed their best tobeat Nana Ameyaw Takyi Frimpong and Prince Tettey 6-2 6-7(3) 10-8to win in the age 30-39 years category.
However, it was a close contest in the women age 40-49 years and 50 years and above category,as Faustina Tagoe and Sara Holst beat Fumina Saito and Alipt Ash 6-2 6-4 while Kate Coleman and Linda Sedinam defeated Shemimah Cobblah and Lola Mogaji 6-4 6-4to grab the 39 years category trophy.
In the mixed doubles contest, Prince Ablorh and Kate Coleman defeated Stephen Borteye and Faustina Tagoe 7-6 (5) 6-4 to emerge winners.
Various prizes, including trophieswere presented to the winners at the end of the tournament.
