Street Sense Organisation (SSO), a non -governmental Organisation with focus on road safety, yesterday presented 100 reflective vests valued at GH¢63,000 to the Military Police of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) at Burma Camp in Accra.
It formed part of the corporate social responsibility of the SSO to support the military in the discharge of its duties.
The Trustee of the Board of SSO, Mrs Gloria Laryea, donating the vests stressed the need to support the Military Police in ensuring road safety.
Mrs Laryea commended the personnel of the Military Police for their contribution in ensuring peace and stability in the country.
The Trustee assured the leadership of the Military Police of SSO’s continuous support to the Command to help them achieve their mandate.
Mrs Laryea said the SSO established eight years ago was committed in promoting road safety education and creating awareness to reduce road crashes
She appealed to the public to make road safety a priority to ensure that human resources and properties were saved in the country.
Mrs Laryea said road safety was a shared responsibility and called on all stakeholders to collaborate to reduce the menace in the country.
“Road safety is a shared responsibility and all stakeholders must partner to help ensure sanity on the roads to ensure that both lives and properties were saved,’’ she added
The Commanding Officer of the Military Police of GAF, Lieutenant Colonel David Addi, receiving the donation commended the management of SSO for the kind gesture.
He said the vests would help them discharge their work effectively.
Lt. Col Addi assured them the vests would be used for its intended purpose.
In attendance were Mr Yao Doe-Tamakloe, Director of Operations and Mrs Kate Opoku, Communication Director all of SSO, among others.
