The immediate past Deputy Ambassador to China, Dr Charles Dwamena, has stressed that prudent management of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) treasury can secure power beyond 2024.
He observed that “a stronger party is one that is financially sound and all members and supporters of the party should pay closer attention to management of the treasury if it is to remain in power beyond 2024,” he said.
Dr Dwamena indicated that effective and efficient treasury management revolved around two key concepts which were effective resource mobilisation and efficient resource utilisation.
Addressing a virtual meeting of members, supporters, faithful, well-wishers and sympathisers of the party from various constituencies, the former diplomat stated that it was only an NPP government that could transform the fortunes of the country and make it prosperous and for that to happen, a stronger NPP was required.
Dr Dwamena, who is also aspiring to be the National Treasurer of NPP, appealed to them to support and assist execution of the party at all levels in a bid to build stronger rank to “break the 8”.
“Under effective and efficient resource mobilisation and utilisation, there is the need to highlight managers of the party’s treasury to ensure there is probity, transparency and accountability for all funds mobilised, training for treasurers, financial secretaries, constituency officers and recognition for people who donate or contribute to party’s coffers.
“A decentralised dues collection system to make it possible and easy for more than 2 million committed, determined and dedicated supporters and members to pay monthly dues to spread ownership, re-engage grassroots in activities, set up Business Incubation Fund to support and assist those with innovative ideas to set up businesses in constituencies to empower them.
“To safeguard survival of the party going into the future, part of the mobilised resources should be set aside to train the youth of the party through a Human Resource Empowerment and Political Mentorship Programmes to broaden the party’s human resource base and learn practical political and leadership skills to energise the base towards sustained political power,” Dr Dwamena disclosed.-3news.com
