Writers and publishers last Saturday attended a workshop in Accra to discuss how best to get their works published to meet international best practices.
Some of the issues discussed included author and publisher agreement, royalties, rights and licensing regime, as well as the publishing processes.
It was jointly organised by the Ghana Books Publishers and the Ghana Association of Writers on Saturday to address the concerns of their members regarding their difficulties in publishing their works.
In attendance were Managing Director of Sub-Saharan Publishers Madam Akosua Ofori Mensah, Dr Kwaku Mensa Ganu and Mr Kwabena Agyepong, both writers and publishers.
Madam Akosua shared her experiences about writing and the success chalked having been able to publish her works for others to buy her rights, adding, “We shouldn’t take the readers for granted, publishing brings you to all kinds of people and all kinds of adventure.”
Dr Kwaku Ganu took participants through the publishing process, saying “the author must know the type, font and size and the main motive of this is not to make authors into self-publishers”.
