Hearty Love Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), based in Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region, on Friday, presented medical equipment to the Shai-Osudoku District Hospital.
The items valued at GH?12,000, included clutches, wheel chairs and walkers, first aid kits, diabetic supplies, nursing books, bed pans, toilet seats, physiotherapy kits, masks and detergents.
The president of the NGO, Mr Bright Sitsope Kavi, presenting the items, said health delivery was significant and must be supported.
He said the high rate of motor accidents in the area, prompted the group to seek assistance from partners abroad, to support the hospital towards strengthening the physiotherapy unit.
“We are touched by the efforts of the staff to offer first class service to the people, this is why we decided to offer our widow’s mite to strengthen the accident unit of the hospital,” he stated.
The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Kennedy C. Brightson, commended the group for the gesture, and urged other philanthropists and organisations to emulate their example.
“It is very interesting to see young people of your type forming an NGO with health orientation, this clearly shows that health delivery is a shared responsibility,” he added.
The items, Dr Brighton explained would go a long way to augment the departments existing equipment.
He appealed to the community to partner the hospital to offer first class service as the facility offers both scientific and herbal medications.
