Back-to- batan ‘Mr K’ announced his return to the track with a splendid performance to beat a combined division of 3A,3B and 4A horses in a1,200metres race over the weekend at the Accra Turf Club.
‘Mr K’ who was nearly retired on suspicion of tendon injury early last year, made minced meat of ‘Sandal’, a top horse from Nigeria in the 4th race of the New Year Meeting in a time of 1.37secs. ‘Who is Free’ followed in third position in that race.
The 2nd race of the day was cancelled for lack of entry.
The 3rd race was won by ‘Kastina’ in the Novice division in a 1000 metres (5 furlong) outing.
Placing second and third, respectively, were ‘Pegasus’ and ‘Country Lover.’
In the 1st race of the day opened to a combined division of 4B and 4C in a 1,200metres (6 furlong), ‘African Queen’ emerged victorious in a time of 1.42secs, followed by ‘Secret Lady’ and ‘Wonder Boy.’
Races continue next week with interesting pairings at the same venue.
