Mr. Tetteh Jnr making a presenting at the Shelter for Abused Children and the Girls Correctional Home at Osu
Charlene’s Angels Foundation, a US-based NGO, has donated educational materials including text books and learning aids to three institutions in Accra.
The beneficiaries are the Osu Children’s Home, Shelter for Abused Children and the Girls Correctional Home at Osu and the Echoing Hills Village at Madina.
The donation totalling $4,500 which was done at the various facilities also included children’s dresses, shoes, toys among others to be used by the inmates.
The gesture was in response to a request for support by the beneficiary institutions last year when the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation Madam Mia Cherris Henson-Tetteh visited the facilities after holding a three-day caregivers training programme which involved caregivers from these institution.
Presenting the items at the Shelter for Abused Children and the Girls Correctional Home at Osu, a member of the foundation, Mr Emmanuel Tetteh Jnr, noted that the Foundation was touched by the concerns of the inmates and caregivers when they visited the outfits and decided to support them with more tools to help in teaching and learning.
“After the caregivers training programme and the feedback we got, we decided to come back to support the facilities and the children as well because we believe that equipping the facilities with the right tools would go a long way to complement the works of the caregivers,” he said.
He promised of more support and collaboration for the facilities in the future.
Mrs Love Grace Ahlijah, Managing Director of the Shelter for Abused Children and the Girls Correctional Home thanked Charlene’s Angels Foundation for the support.
Mrs Ahlijah used the opportunity to call for further support from philanthropists and benevolent societies to reach out to her outfit and help renovate the centre and put it in a better shape than it is now.
