Martial
ANTHONY Martial has told his agent to that he is ready to sign a new contract at Manchester United, following Jose Mourinho’s exit last month.
The Frenchman shelved talks over a new deal earlier this season due to his rocky relationship with the Portuguese manager.
However, since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Martial has found his feet at Old Trafford and has instructed his agent Philippe Lamboley to negotiate a deal worth £150,000 a week to stay at the club, according to The Mirror.
The France international revealed he is enjoying life under the Norwegian manager and is hopeful to continue.
He said: “I’m happy, because I’m playing more now this season than I was previously. So hopefully that can continue.
“I want to continue scoring goals and obviously that will have the effect of helping the team, so as long as I’m playing I am very happy.”
Solskjaer has also revealed that he wants Martial and David de Gea to commit their futures to the club.
Both De Gea and Martial have failed to reach agreements on extending their stay at Old Trafford beyond 2020 despite negotiations taking place over the course of the season.
Solskjaer, who turned down chances to leave United when he was a player, said: “I know the club want them to sign because they are top quality players.
“It’s down to the players but when you’re at Man United there isn’t a lot of greener grass on the other side. You are at the best place. It’s the biggest club in the world.
“For me, I would hope I can help or guide these players to maybe tip them over to thinking they want to stay at this club.
“If you are a regular at Manchester United, I think you should grasp the opportunity to stay here and become part of the history.” – MailOnline
