Mr Anthony Afenyo
The Ashaiman constituency executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have debunked claims in a section of the media that there is confusion between the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and the constituency chairman.
A press release issued and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Deputy constituency communications officer, Madam Zainab Mohammed stated that there is a perfect relationship and understanding between the MP, Mr. Ernest Norgbey, and the constituency chairman, Mr. Anthony Afenyo.
The statement explained that, “As part of the 2018 31st December Revolution anniversary which was celebrated in Ashaiman, the Ashaiman constituency executives of the NDC and the MP decided to organise a revolution walk to create awareness for the anniversary.”
The statement refuted the claim that the NDC organised people from Ablekuma and other constituencies in Tema to boost their numbers for the walk and that all the persons who participated in the walk were from the Ashaiman Constituency.
It refuted the claim that there was confusion among the constituency executives.
“The constituency chairman and the MP have no frivolous issue between them which has in any way affected the constituency executives.
We the constituency executives have not in any way taken sides with either of the two leaders and the two leaders are not working to undermine each other.”
It stated that the constituency chairman and MP planned the anniversary programme together and that “the two of them were present throughout the 31st December Revolution Programme to see to it that everything went on successfully”.
The release further explained that the walk was not organised by the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly as was speculated, but rather the NDC constituency executives ahead of the 31st December Revolution celebrations.
“The Ashaiman constituency executives of the NDC are united and together with the MP they would fight to retain the seat for the NDC come the next general elections.
