THE Accra Circuit Court “one” presided by Mr. Aboagye Tandoh, yesterday remanded two persons into police custody for robbery.
They are Raymond Duodu, 18, unemployed, and William Henkel, 21,a television game operator.
The accused, who pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime and robbery will appear again on January 23, 2019.
Mr. Kofi Bonney, counsel for the accused wanted to make an oral bail application for his client but the court asked him to put his application in writing.
Consequently, Mr. Tandoh asked the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Victor Dosoo to file witness statements and all documents the prosecution would rely on before the next adjourned date.
Complainants (names withheld), a banker and a lawyer were present.
The facts according to the prosecution are that, Duodu and Henkel, broke into the room of complainants at Madina, Accra on January 4, 2019 at 2a.m. when they(complaints) were asleep and made away with GH?6, 710.00 and $1,110.00.
Chief Inspector Dosoo told the court that the accused held the complainants hostage and took five mobile phones including, Samsung, Infinix, IPhone , a 51- inch Samsung television set and a black bag containing one of the complainant’s driver’s licence.
According to the prosecution the accused were armed with a cutlass and other offensive weapons when they entered into complainant’s room.
Chief Insp. Dosoo stated that a tracking device was used by complainants together with the police to track the Iphone at James Town where accused were arrested.
The court heard that some of the stolen items were retrieved from Duodu and Henkel at the time of their arrest.
He said accused led police to a blue kiosk at Madina where the 51-inch Samsung television, together with other items and part of the burglar proof were recovered.
