Pastor Neil and the children with their parcels
The Prampram branch of the El-Kana Prayer Ministry has donated assorted items to the needy in Lower Prampram where the church operates.
The items, worth about GH¢ 3, 500 and given a couple of days before the Christmas festivities, included food, used clothes, shoes, drinks, biscuits, toffees and pastries.
In all, 500 beneficiaries, comprising 350 children and 150 adults, went home with some of the items to celebrate the Christmas.
The event which took place on December 23, 2018, was on the theme, “Living a selfless life, an example of Jesus Christ our Lord”. It was an initiative of Pastor Mark Neil, the branch pastor, with financial support from members of the ministry.
Pastor Neil said, “The gesture signified the selfless life Jesus Christ lived on earth by sacrificing his life to save our souls, and that we must emulate to make sure the happiness and safety of our neighbours, especially the underprivileged, is our major concern.”
“We are in the era of grabbing and grabbing, always looking for ways to enrich ourselves to the neglect of the needy in society,” he said.
Pastor Neil urged Christians to find ways of improving the living conditions of their neighbours, who are poor, to leave a legacy that demonstrated God’s love to mankind.
The Assistant Pastor of the church, Pastor Nana Yaw Asare, said the gesture was the church’s way of impacting on the lives of the needy.
