The maiden City Construction and Property Awards, which is meant to honour local players in the construction industry has been launched.
An initiative of Image Consortium, the programme, slated for April next year is on the theme, ‘Conceive, construct, and conserve.’
The Deputy Minister of Works and Housing, Eugene Boakye Antwi in his address lauded Image Consortium or the role the company has played to champion excellence in the construction industry, and particularly helping to bridge the housing deficit in the country.
Particularly, he said the theme encapsulated the entire building experience and provided opportunity for dissecting all the major parts of the building process and rewarding them individually.
Mr Antwi said housing was a component of infrastructure that promote human dignity and over the years government had demonstrated keen interest in ensuring that the citizens had access to decent, adequate and affordable housing.
The Executive Chairman of Image Consortium, Eric Houadjeto said the awards would honour players in all the sectors of the construction industry.
He said there would be a total of 15 awards in the categories of best retail space, the best residential and best leisure.
Mr Houadjeto said the programme would be organised every two years to recognise players in the construction industry in the country.
