An Accra circuit court on Tuesday remanded an unemployed in police custody for stealing items worth $9,675.
Dennis Adu, denied conspiring with one Gyimah and Mohammed, his accomplices, to unlawfully enter the premise of Madam Ellen Arthur to steal a number of her personal effects valued at $9,675.
He is to make his next appearance on December 19, 2018.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Seth Frimpong told the court presided by Mrs Ruby Quaison that on October 31, this year, the prosecution witness travelled abroad and when he returned he realised her room was broken into and ransacked.
Insp Frimpong said a formal complaint was lodged with the police after two suit cases containing wax prints and tie and dye clothes, gold and silver jewellery, two power banks, electrical gadgets, cellular phones such as an I-Phone 5, a Blackberry and Sony Ericson were missing.
Prosecution said Adu was arrested and during investigations he admitted the offence, but his accomplices escaped.
Insp Frimpong said, 32 tie and dye as well as wax prints, two suitcases, a winter coat and golden rings were retrieved from Adu.
His counsel in praying for bail told the court that Adu had a fixed place of abode and that he would come back to court anytime his assistant was required and would not interfere with investigations.
Prosecution however disagreed, and said the investigators needed accused to assist in further investigations. – GNA
