Cape Coast Young Sharks over the weekend defeated Accra Sea Lions Beach Soccer Club 2-1 to be crowned champions of the maiden Cal Bank beach soccer Super Cup tournament played at Abuesi in the Western region.
The four-team tournament brought together champions from the Greater Accra and Volta regional sector, Sea Lions BSC and runners up Nungua Beach Soccer Club to battle for honours with the Central and Western regional champions, Cape Coast Young Sharks and runner-up Shama Beach Soccer Club.
All four clubs came out of a zonal competition.
Young Sharks opened their account with a 3-2 win over Nungua Beach Soccer Club, and then saw off Shama Beach Soccer Club 5-1 before crowning it all with the win over the Accra lads to annex nine points.
Sea Lions which placed second with six points beat Shama Beach Soccer Club 6-1 and Nungua Beach Soccer Club 5-3 while Shama Beach Soccer Club placed third with a three points after beating the Nungua lads 3-2.
Young Sharks took home a cash prize of GH¢ 5,000 plus a giant trophy while runner up Sea Lions took home GH¢ 3,000.
Sea Lions striker Alexander Adjei emerged the goal King of the tournament with seven goals.
Marketing manager of CAL Bank Kofi Siabi congratulated the winners for the feat and urged them to keep training for the upcoming season.
