The pupils seated at the new kitchen
Mytilineos S. A. has handed over an ultramodern kitchen to the St. Nicholas Charity Foundation School in Bankuman-Tema New Town.
The school, located at the coastal belt of the town and providing free education for children, lacked a kitchen facility.
Mytilineos S. A as part of its corporate social responsibility in the community, sponsored the building of a fully furnished closed kitchen which would also serve as an entertainment and events hall for the children.
The Business Development Manager of Mytilineos S. A, Mr Mawuli Asempa said the gesture was in response to a request by the school for assistance.
He said with an expenditure of 6.5 million euros in the last seven years, the Mytilineos Group had provided support for a wide range of social needs, responding to its role as an integral member of the society they work in.
The management of the company he said was drawn to the St. Nicholas School due to its commitment to educating children living in the deprived part of Tema New Town.
Head of the United Kingdom based Charity Foundation, Lady Deborah Eleazar said the foundation was currently educating 140 children from pre-school to class six whose parents are mainly fishermen and could not afford to send their children to school.
