The Ghana Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA) has fixed the 11th edition of the Man Ghana contest, for Saturday December 1 at the National Theatre in Accra.
Man Ghana is the most celebrated bodybuilding and fitness event and this year’s edition code named ‘the Battle of the Gladiators’ would be held under the theme; “Health and Fitness, important for building a nation”.
Mr Abdul Hayye Yartey, President of GBFA at a press conference in Accra said, there would be an introduction of two new disciplines on the night.
In addition to the usual men bodybuilding contest, there would be the female bikini and the men physique.
He explained that the female bikini would see females display body fitness in their bikinis, whilst men physique would showcase men who do not have muscles but have kept their bodies fit also flex for honours.
He noted that, as the only bodybuilding and fitness association recognized by the National Sports Authority under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the top performers of the various categories would be selected into the national team, to represent the country at international events.
Mr. Yartey added it was the aim of the GBFA to use the upcoming event to harness talents and guide them with technical training to become professionals, adding that, top performers on the night, would be presented with certificates, trophies, and medals.
The Man Ghana competition started in 2006 and has since seen six champions.
Kofi Salia, has won the most on three occasions, Cyril Ajah Kofi winning it two times, John Anum, a Canada based athlete also winning twice, with Christopher Antoh and Yaw Azure winning one each.
Other highlights of the night would be performance from top musicians in Ghana including Kofi Kinaata, Keche and Tee Phlow.
Gate fees are pegged at GHC50.00 and GHC100.00 respectively with the event commencing at 19:30 GMT. –GNA
