Hajia Ayishetu Seidu, Municipal Chief Executive for Savelugu in the Northern Region has admonished residents of the Municipality to take advantage of government’s flagship initiatives and social interventions to ameliorate their plight.
She explained that the initiatives, namely the Planting for Food and Jobs, Free Senior High School, one-district one-factory, Planting for Food and Exports, Youth Employment Agency and the Nation Builders Corp were introduced to ease financial burden of parents, improve economic status and provide jobs and wealth for the youth.
Hajia Seidu made the admonition when she met with some residents in the municipality to explain to them benefits of the government’s programmes and initiatives during her community visitations.
“The Akufo-Addo-led administration has the citizenry at heart and introduced programmes and initiatives to lessen their burden while priority of the assembly is propagate government’s agenda by promoting education, health, sanitation and agriculture.”
“They will be used to develop human resource capital, promote economic growth of the citizenry, assembly’s commitment to develop, empower its residents economically, apply and access micro and small loans facility to expand businesses.”
“The assembly will hand severe punishment for men who sexually abuse girls, to deter them from violating the rights of the girl child, parents have responsibility to support their girl child by providing education to inspire them take education seriously and compete with their male counterparts.
“We have supported over 200 displaced people with relief items and in partnership with Resilience in Northern Ghana, a nongovernmental organisation, provide hand washing equipment and clean up exercises on monthly basis in communities.
“I appeal to the citizenry to support the President to succeed and desist from making statements that has the tendency to jeopardise the peace and unity prevailing in the municipality and the nation at large,” Hajia Seidu said. -GNA
