Obore Gariba Yankorsor
Obore Gariba Yankorsor II, Paramount chief of the Bassare traditional area in the Northern Region, has commended the government for capturing social interventions of the community in the 2019 Budget and Policy Statement of the government for construction to attract investments.
“The construction of social interventions will attract more Investors into the area to venture into one-district-one-factory and one-village-one-dam flagship programmes as most of them are scared by the poor infrastructure of the area,” he stressed.
Obore Yankorsor who was speaking in an interview, noted that, “It is gratifying to hear that our community has been captured in the budget and I want to commend the government for the move to develop infrastructure to create employment for the youth.
“Successive governments have made promises and suggested packages for the construction of infrastructure to attract investment but nothing concrete has been done over the years, it is refreshing and good news for the chiefs and people, when the government announced it will construct flagship initiatives in the Northern Region.
“We are ready to offer any assistance towards execution of work and I call on other stakeholders to play their roles responsibly to ensure the smooth construction of the projects to ameliorate our plight.
“The move, will not only facilitate movement of goods and services from the area to marketing centres, but also serve as the shortest alternative road for travelers enroute to Togo, Benin and Nigeria since the 80-kilometre Yendi-Tatale road has not seen any major construction in decades.
“The road is an ECOWAS route as most travelers to Togo, Benin and Nigeria will in future prefer it as the shortest alternative if constructed, apart from being closer to Togo, also an agricultural hub as food crops are produced in large quantities,” Obore Yankorsor indicated. -GNA
