Mr Afenyo-Markin
Member of Parliament (MP) for Efutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has stated that the government has so far proven it deserves eight years in office.
According to the Efutu MP, “the work done by the government in the last 20 months coupled with its determination is a demonstration that given another term, it can do better for the citizenry.
“The government is determined and it is evident under previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) governments hence if given eight years, can do better.
“We are committed to improving infrastructure while making education free and accessible to all, we promised free SHS and they doubted us but we’ve proved them wrong.
“Persons, who have been rating the government, will commend us on our commitment and consistency since it is not all governments that capitalise on propaganda to rule and the NPP has fulfilled most of its 2016 campaign promises.
“Even though there were doubts about government’s Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, it was implemented, and measures are being put in place to ensure infrastructures at most of the schools are improved.
“The introduction of the double track system under the Free SHS policy shamed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) because the party thought the policy cannot be sustained due to large numbers recorded.
“The government introduced the double track system to run some sort of a shift system for Senior High School students to make room for as many students as qualified to be enrolled.
“The NDC thought the Free SHS will fail in the second year due to high number of students to be enrolled, and we brought the double track system, they have been put to shame because they were waiting to say we told you so.
“The government is proactively optimistic irrespective of challenges with the implementation of the policy and other flagship programmes,” Mr Afenyo-Markin touted.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu however, stressed that the Akufo-Addo-led administration must be voted out because “it peddled falsehood” to win power in the 2016 general election and nobody owes the government eight years.
“When the NPP was campaigning in 2016, they made promises in the context of four years not eight years because when the NPP was in opposition, they condemned borrowing but they have developed a huge appetite for borrowing,” he alleged. -3news.com
