Mr Tanoh exchanging pleasantries with the Wa-Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo
Flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Goosie Tanoh, has cautioned that efforts at rebuilding the NDC on stronger principles, will not be an easy task however, prepared to make the needed sacrifice to build the party.
He expressed optimism that it was possible for the party to rise up again from its recent shambolic performance, and return to its glorious winning days, when it won presidential elections with 57 and 56 per cent of total national election votes.
Speaking to Tertiary Education Institutional Network (TEIN-NDC) and later interacted with elders, senior members and supporters of the party during a campaign tour to the Upper West Region, Mr Tanoh, a founding member of the NDC, tasked the students to be worthy ambassadors of change in their communities to lead the process of “resuscitating broken” party.
He encouraged the students to strife to win the fight against corruption which was gaining grounds in Ghanaian politics.
Mr Tanoh bemoaned the dwindling election fortunes of the party in recent years, which culminated into the unprecedented defeat of the party during the 2016 presidential election, which it lost by over one million votes.
“I have to be very honest with you, for us to reverse the trend, it’s going to be difficult, we will have to sweat, the masses will willingly sacrifice to help reshape the destiny of the country if our leaders show signs to do the right thing.
“I believe with your support, we can do it again with me as your flagbearer, I believe in you since politics is hard work that involves concerted effort to win the citizenry’s trust by opposing corruption within or outside the party.
“We should guard against wishful thinking the New Patriotic Party will be voted out of power because of its failures, I entreat party supporters across the country to work hard to restore integrity of the NDC, to enable it to recapture political power from the NPP government.
“I assure you “hard labour” in the party will not go waste should I get the nod to lead the NDC into the 2020 elections.
The NDC cadres in return gave Mr. Tanoh their support and blessings, assuring him of support of his candidature. –citinewsroom.com
