The Power Queens club (PQC) of the Electricity of Ghana yesterday stocked the National Blood Bank (NBB) through a blood donation exercise.
Held at the Shai Osudoku Senior High School in the Greater Accra Region, the gesture was geared towards stocking the country’s blood bank, to ensure there was sufficient blood to administer to patients during emergency cases.
More than 200 students voluntarily donated blood during the exercise to support the blood bank.
Speaking to journalists, the president of the Association, Mrs Rosemond Asamoah, said the association decided to champion that cause to help sustain the NBB.
“We all know there are a lot of accidents on our roads and accident victims lose a lot of blood, so it will help in stocking the blood bank”, She stated.
Mrs Asamoah said the association has targeted about 2000 pints of blood to stock the blood bank.
Touching on the concession of the company, Mrs Asamoah urged customers to pay their electricity bills promptly, to enable the company upgrade and provide more transformers, to solve challenges facing by the company.
Madam Yaa Asamoah, a nurse at the NBB urged Ghanaians to respond positively to the call for regular blood donation.
She called on persons interested in donating blood to go to any major hospital for appropriate screening and donation to save life
The donors expressed joy for participating in the exercise, and the fact that they were given the opportunity save lives.
