The Ghana Military Christian Fellowship (GMCF) has observed an International Day of Intercessory Prayers for Ghana and the security services in Accra on Saturday.
The event, which coincided with the re-launch of the GMCF, was observed to intercede for the development of the country and strengthen the security agencies in the discharge of their duties.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Obed Boamah Akwa, in a statement read on his behalf, advised security agencies to exhibit discipline and integrity in carrying out their duties.
He said it was the duty of officers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces to uphold and defend the sovereignty of the nation, at all times, in other to ensure peace and stability in the country, hence the need to embrace Christianity.
Lt Gen. Akwa commended the GMCF on the organisation of the programme, and pledged his support for the progress of the Fellowship.
The president of the Fellowship, Brigadier General Mike Akpatsu, said the GMCF aimed at uniting all personnel to pray for the stability and development of the country.
He said there was the need for Muslims and Christians to pray for the security of the citizenry, and the responsibility of the service to protect the peace the country was enjoying.
Brig. Gen. Akpatsu said the fellowship would assist in the development of Christian leaders in the Armed Forces, and reached out to personnel of other security agencies in the country, in other to bring them closer to God.
He encouraged all Christians, especially military personnel; to worship God in truth as the end time was near, saying it was time to secure a spiritual atmosphere for the country.
The event was attended by personnel from all security agencies including the Ghana Police Service, Fire Service, Immigration, Customs and the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship.
