The third batch of 120 Christians pilgrims last Saturday left Ghana to Israel for a seven-day visit to some religious and historical sites.
They left in the company of the Security Advisor to the President, Brigadier General Emmanuel Okyere, and the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Samuel Kofi Dzamesi.
The event was facilitated by the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs
Speaking to the pilgrims before their departure, the Chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, urged them to pray for the success of government’s flagship policies such as the Free Senior High School, One District One Factory, Planting for Food and Jobs and One Village One Dam.
She said the success of government policies would help boost the socio-economic gains of the country, and asked them to be good ambassadors of the country, saying “don’t do anything that would bring the name of the nation to disrepute”
The Chief of Staff said this was the first time a government was implementing such an initiative, and it would be important for them to embark on the pilgrimage with a purpose.
She asked them to use the occasion to renew their faith and strengthen themselves in the ways of God, adding that, “you are going at a critical time so pray for the peace of Ghana and for the President.”
Mr Dzamesi, in his address urged pilgrims to eschew negative attitudes that would jeopardise their journey and abide by the security regulations of the Israel.
