The National Investment Bank (NIB), has donated 2,000 copies of Mathematics Revision Books worth GH?80,000.00 to the Ministry of Education in support of government’s flagship free Senior High School programme.
Mathematics, although one of the core subjects with the prospects to determine the progress or otherwise of any student from one level to another, a lot of students across the country do have difficulties appreciating the subject hence, they are unable to successfully pass examinations on it.
The Revision Mathematics Books according to the Ministry would help the students develop interest in the subject as the books provide a plethora of questions students could attempt solving thereby, enhancing proficiency in the subject.
Mr. Alfred George Thompson, the Deputy Managing Director of NIB making the donation said the bank had always been eager to contribute its quota towards the development of Ghana’s education.
Minister for Education Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh who received the books on behalf of the Ministry said government was poised to “making Ghana a mathematics-friendly country because without mathematics, we cannot get anywhere as a country”.
He expressed the hope that, the textbooks would inspire the students to study mathematics for a brighter future. The minister was very thankful to NIB for the gesture and appealed to other corporate institutions to emulate the example of NIB.
