The Ghanaian champions began the game with an unusual line-up, missing the services of Captain Yahaya Mohammed, goalkeeper Joseph Addo, defender Justice Anane and striker Bright Adjei.
“We had many injuries in the team. About three players picked up injuries in our final preparation game against a first division side before playing ASEC so that definitely affected us,” Kenichi said.
But Chief Executive Officer of the club, Albert Commey is blaming Coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi for ending the club’s unbeaten run at home.
Although, the Fire Club missed several top stars due to injuries and suspension, Commey was critical of the Japanese coach and believes he had his tactics wrong in the game.
“I have issues with the Coach’s 4-1-4-1 system. If you are playing at home with this system, I think it is more of a defensive than attacking. I asked those questions but he is the coach and he decided to go by those tactics.”
“For me, I have to be very honest and praise ASEC. In the first leg, we [Aduana] dominated them but they scored one goal. Little did I know that they will come and continue what they did by scoring two early goals to unsettle us,” he added.
Aduana are currently languishing at the bottom in the group with four points. They will travel to Morocco to face Raja Casablanca in the last round of matches. –Goal.com
