Alexande Lacazette scored a last-minute equaliser for Arsenal before seeing his side win on penalties in Dublin against Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Antonio Rudiger scored the opener for Chelsea at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin before Petr Cech denied Alvaro Morata a confidence booster by saving his penalty.
It proved costly as a low cross from Reiss Nelson found Lacazette, who tapped in at the back post with the last kick of the game, much to Sarri’s annoyance.
It went to penalties and Emery’s Arsenal won 6-5, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek the culprit who missed his spot-kick. Alex Iwobi scored the winner.
This tie served as a precursor to their Premier League meeting later this month and it gave us a taste of what will come this season.
In a bid to have ‘Sarri-ball’ take shape ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield against Manchester City, Chelsea’s players have been put through daily double sessions.
It seemed to be in full flow in the first half of this International Champions Cup fixture as Arsenal struggled to handle their fellow Londoners.
Chelsea’s pretty passing was easy on the eye and £57million summer signing Jorginho once again starred in the centre, everything going through him.
Cesc Fabregas was roundly booed whenever on the ball and the former Arsenal player forced Cech into tipping over a shot in the opening minutes.
From the resulting corner, Chelsea took the lead. Fabregas crossed and found an unmarked Rudiger, who headed home to hand the west Londoners the lead.
Ten minutes later, Chelsea should have taken a 2-0 lead when Callum Hudson-Odoi out-ran Hector Bellerin before drawing a foul out of the defender. – MailOnline
